The All Progressives Grand Alliance has clarified that its support ahead of the 2027 general elections is limited to the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu, distancing itself from candidates of the All Progressives Congress contesting legislative seats in Anambra State.
The National Coordinator of APGA Media Warriors Forum, Chinedu Obigwe, said the party’s position aligns with the working relationship between the Anambra State Government and the Federal Government, and should not be misinterpreted as an endorsement of APC aspirants.
Obigwe’s clarification follows the “progressives are working together” mantra popularised by Anambra State Governor and APGA National Leader, Chukwuma Soludo, which has been used by some APC aspirants in campaign materials featuring both leaders.
Reacting in a statement on Sunday, Obigwe cautioned voters against what he described as “misleading campaign tactics,” noting that some APC candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives and State Assembly had circulated posters suggesting a broader alliance.
He stressed that APGA remains committed to fielding and securing victories for its own candidates in all legislative contests in the state.
“The general public should not be deceived by the drowning campaign gimmicks of Anambra opposition politicians,” he said.
Obigwe maintained that Governor Soludo’s position strictly reflects governance cooperation with President Tinubu and not political alignment with APC candidates.
“In Anambra, it is Tinubu for President, APGA for Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly seats,” he added.
