The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has unveiled its provisional timetable for primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The timetable was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Ejimofor Opara, who noted that it was approved by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
Opara said the schedule aligns with the timetable set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and complies with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026.
According to the timetable, the sale and submission of expression of interest forms will begin on April 20 and close on May 8. Screening of aspirants is scheduled for May 11 for National Assembly candidates, May 12 for State Houses of Assembly, and May 13 for governorship aspirants.
Nomination forms will be available from May 14 to May 21, while primary elections are set to take place on May 23 across wards using the Option A4 voting system. Appeals arising from the primaries will be addressed on May 28.
The party also announced the fees for forms. Expression of interest forms are priced at ₦25 million for presidential aspirants, ₦6 million for Senate, ₦4 million for House of Representatives, ₦10 million for governorship, and ₦2 million for State Assembly seats.
Nomination forms will cost ₦50 million for the presidency, ₦15 million for Senate, ₦12 million for House of Representatives, ₦25 million for governorship, and ₦6 million for State Assembly positions. The combined cost for presidential aspirants is ₦75 million.
Opara explained that aspirants must first purchase and submit expression of interest forms and successfully complete screening before they can obtain nomination forms.
He added that the adoption of the Option A4 voting system is intended to enhance transparency and reduce electoral malpractice in the party’s internal processes.
The spokesman described the release of the timetable as a significant step in APGA’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.
