APM promises economic recovery, improved security ahead of 2027 elections

The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has pledged to revive Nigeria’s economy, improve security and deliver better governance if elected in the 2027 general elections, saying the country deserves a new direction.
In a statement issued on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, the party said it had developed a comprehensive governance blueprint aimed at restoring economic growth, creating jobs, rebuilding critical infrastructure and reforming Nigeria’s security architecture.
According to the APM, its proposed policies would focus on industrialization, youth employment, agriculture, manufacturing, power, healthcare, education and other key sectors, while promoting transparency and accountability in government.
The party argued that Nigeria’s current economic challenges, including rising inflation, unemployment, poverty, increasing public debt, the departure of multinational companies and the migration of skilled professionals, reflect what it described as years of poor governance.
APM also criticised the administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing it of lacking a coherent economic strategy and implementing policies that have worsened hardship across the country.
The party further expressed concern over insecurity, claiming that lives and property remain under constant threat and insisting that its security reforms would more effectively tackle terrorism and other criminal activities.
Highlighting its vision, the APM said its blueprint is designed to attract foreign investment, strengthen the private sector, improve public service delivery and ensure prudent management of national resources.
The statement comes as the party prepares for the 2027 elections, following the emergence of Seyi Makinde as its presidential candidate, positioning the APM as one of the opposition parties seeking to challenge the ruling APC.
The party maintained that Nigerians are eager for a credible alternative and promised to unveil its full policy document at the appropriate time as campaigns for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
