The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has called for more support and cooperation for the Nigerian Armed Forces in their efforts to ensure the safety of lives and property in the country.

Speaker Abbas said that as Nigerians remember the fallen heroes of the Armed Forces, the government will continue to strengthen the security outfit for the unity and prosperity of the country.

The Speaker’s message is in commemoration of this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day, which is celebrated on January 15 every year.

Speaker Abbas, who noted that there cannot be economic growth and stability without the safety of lives and investments, stated that security is a collective responsibility of all citizens and not government agencies alone.

While saying that Nigerians will be eternally grateful to members of the Armed Forces who paid the supreme price in the bid to protect their countrymen, Speaker Abbas added that their labour would not be in vain.

As the security and welfare of the citizenry remain the primary responsibility of the government, the Speaker noted that the 10th House will continue to prioritise security and safety agencies.

Speaker Abbas prayed for comfort for the families of the fallen heroes, while calling for better welfare packages for them.

The Speaker also urged members of the Armed Forces, especially those at the war fronts, to continue to do their best in securing the country. He said this should be inspired by patriotism and sacrifice.
