Army arrest 3 logistics suppliers of bandits in Zamfara

The Nigerian army said it has succeeded in the arrest of three suspected chief logistics suppliers of armed bandits terrorizing Zamfara state.
The suspects have been identified as Mr. Amos Ugwuozor, Nura Mukhtar and Sani Yaro and are currently assisting in giving required information.
Acting Director Defence Information, Brigadier General John Agim at a press briefing held at the Command Headquarters of Operation Sharan Daji in Gusau Zamfara state capital said, the arrest indicated a clear sign of success in the fight against armed banditry in the state.
The General further informed that, following incessant raids, ambushes, fighting patrols, snaps roads blocks and airstrikes on numerous camps occupied by bandits, formidable hideouts as well, the troops were gallantly able to dominate most stronghold areas of armed bandits.
“The development succeeded in neutralizing large number of notorious armed bandits, cattle rustlers and kidnappers, the situation which facilitated another arrest of most wanted dangerous leaders of bandits identified as Danboko and Danbuzuwa, alongside over 50 bandits,” He added.
He said that, “The Air Task Force (ATF) in support of Operation Sharan Daji had recently launched series of airstrikes against the bandits’ hideouts and camps in Sububu and Rugu forests.
“The attacks successfully neutralized large number of armed bandits and destroyed their camps, these thick forests and other ungoverned areas serve as sanctuary and safe haven for the bandits from where they planned and launched attacks on innocent people.”
“I want to categorically say that Zamfara state which was once bedeviled with insecurity and incessant killings due to banditry activities, cattle rustling, kidnappings and armed robbery is now assured of safety of lives and properties.
“The Operation Sharan Daji assured you that the momentum will be sustained, while increasing the tempo of the fight to criminalities in the state.”
