Arsenal came from behind to beat Leeds United 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium, with Bruno Guimarães scoring the winner as the Premier League resumed after the international break.
Leeds took the lead 10 minutes into the second half through James Justin, who finished Gabriel Gudmundsson’s low cross into the roof of the net.
But Arsenal responded seven minutes later when Ricardo Calafiori restored parity with a half-volley after Ben White headed the ball across goal.
The Gunners completed the comeback in the 70th minute through substitute Guimarães.
The midfielder received Declan Rice’s pass on the edge of the penalty area before firing a precise low shot into the bottom corner.
Arsenal had struggled to create clear-cut chances in the first half, with Leeds threatening on the counter-attack.
Bukayo Saka also missed an opportunity, heading wide as both sides went into the break level.
After taking the lead, Leeds were unable to contain Arsenal’s response as the hosts increased the pressure.
Saka missed two further chances in the closing stages, but his failures did not prevent Arsenal from securing all three points.
The victory extended Arsenal’s unbeaten run against Leeds to 17 matches in all competitions, dating back to 2003.
It was also the Gunners’ ninth consecutive win over Leeds in all competitions, while the visitors suffered their sixth successive defeat at the Emirates Stadium.
The result moved Arsenal to 15 points, level with Premier League leaders Manchester City, who were scheduled to play on Sunday.
