A Nigerian firm, WhiteCloud TVET has unveiled an innovative solution designed to empower artisans particularly welders to bridge the capacity gap in the welding industry.
President of the Group, Mr. Oluranti Jasper Netufo, noted that with the latest technology, WhiteCloud is set to revolutionize the welding industry of the country.
He made the assertion during a training workshop organised for his staff by Seabery, who are partners with WhiteCloud TVET.
He explained that WhiteCloud TVET is a Nigerian Company that is into vocational education and skill acquisition training and equipment.
Netufo revealed that he was impressed when he was introduced to Soldamatic in Spain, and has signed a Memorandum Of Understanding ( MOU) with Seabery to bring The Technology to Nigeria.
Speaking at the end of the 3-Day train the trainer workshop, Netufo said that the technology will encourage patronage from young people, who will begin to view welding as a lucrative career path.
This, according to him will definitely happen because the industry has hither to suffer a dearth because of the dangers and challenges associated with the practice of welding in Nigeria.
“ With the introduction of soldamatic, the youth will be encouraged to embrace Welding as a career and this will boost employment and impact positively on the nation’s economy”, he stressed.
On his part, Mr. Abdenor Edouieb, the Regional Manager of Seabery, stated that the welding industry has many potentials, because it is very crucial to various sectors like construction, automotive, aerospace and oil and gas.
Edouieb, who is in Nigeria to conduct training on how to utilize soldamatic technology in training welders, opined that it is a welcome solution that has addressed the high cost and safety concerns involved in the training of welders.
According to him, the soldamatic technology is used basically for training.
While conducting a practical session for participants, he explained that it is a virtual platform that helps trainees to practice with no wastage, hazards and points out errors to that helps to minimize wastage in real life and boost productivity.
He however noted that in spite of the vast opportunities for Welding, there is a Shortage of Skilled workers because of the hazardous nature of the job which is one of the areas that soldamatic technology is addressing.
Furthermore, the Regional Manager said that the innovative technology offers many benefits amongst which are real- time Feedback while practicing, safety , environmental sustainability and cost effective.
Notably, the only female participants among the trainees is a young lady, Miss Favour Nselu Nkutu, a welding engineering graduate from Delta State University, Ogwashi- Uku.
Miss Nkutu said he was very enthusiastic about soldamatic solution technology.
She said it is a cutting edge technology that has been endorsed by many countries in the world who are using it to train their citizens and build their economy.
Nkutu who said she was the only female student in her class during her undergraduate days said that she was motivated to go into the industry through her father who is a welder.
She said that welding is an interesting part of engineering, and the bedrock/ structure for engineering.
She called on Nigerian youths who are thinking of migrating because of perceived lack of opportunities in the country to have a rethink because with soldamatic technology, opportunity abounds.
According to her, the technology will also encourage more women to venture into welding industry because the fear of hazards, regarding learning from the scratch has been taken away learning from the scratch has been taken away.
