Over 500 civil servants in Benue State are to be trained annually in Human Capacity Development.
This followed a partnership entered between the State Government and Administrative Staff College of Nigeria, ASCON.
Director-General, ASCON, Mrs. Cecilia Gayya noted during a courtesy visit to Governor Samuel Ortom at Government House, Makurdi yesterday that infrastructural development without capacity development could lead to serious administrative crisis, adding that upgrading of the civil service delivers institutions like government from the woods.
Represented by Good luck Audu, the DG said the college has the expertise and is always willing to offer their services at a moderate cost and even come to the State to train them.
Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom averred that the civil service remains the engine room of any administration as it is responsible for the success and failure of any government.
“ASCON have experts in training of civil servants. Training like this promotes professionalism in the civil service. Human capacity Devernment is very key. ASCON has agreed to come down to the State and train our civil servants. There is alot of leakages and waste if workers are not adequately trained”, Governor Ortom posited.
