The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Special Duty, Engr. Festus Daudu has charged members of Vision-one Leadership Development Initiative (VOLDI) to come out with plans and programmes that will sustain the prevailing peace in the country which is made possible by the present government and improve on it.
Engr Daudu gave the charge at the weekend when members of VOLDI paid him a courtesy visit in his office to confer on him the award as an “Icon of Diligent Service and Capacity building in the Civil Service”.
“The peace we enjoy today in the Niger Delta region, the North East of Nigeria and other parts of the country are as result of peace building process of this administration and I enjoin you as a youth group to key into this process so that our country will be more peaceful and a better place.
“We must as individuals, groups and as organization support government in this peace effort. No youth should allow himself to be used as agent of destruction, we should move against kidnapping and other forms of vices , as such let us join hand and engage in enlightenment campaigns for youths in all nooks and crannies of this country with a message of peace”, Engr. Daudu said.
The Permanent Secretary thanked the Board and Management of VOLDI for Identifying him with little peace effort he has engaged with and promised to do more whenever the need arises.
According to him, the recognition means more work for him and prayed for Gods guidance for members of the association,
He dedicated the award to the entire staff and management of the ministry.
Earlier the Executive Director VOLDI, Comrade Emmanuel Johnny, said the recognition of the Permanent Secretary was a surprise to them because of the group selection process, which was done by unknown Nigerians that nominated Engr Daudu for the awards through the organization platform on civil service category in this year 4th edition of the awards.
He said VOLDI is planning a peace building conference for the youths in the Niger Delta region next year and solicited for the ministry’s support toward the hosting of that event.
