Association begins construction of Centre for rehabilitation of destitute, orphans

A Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), Divine Women of Purpose Association (DWOPA), has commenced construction of a multi million naira  home for the rehabilitation and reintegration of orphans, destitutes, abused women and girls in the society.

Speaking during the foundation laying ceremony of the project, Founder of the Association, Dr. (Mrs) Ijeoma Chikezie said the project, which is a three housing unit plan was initiated to serve as a shelter for counseling and skills training for the targeted beneficiaries, to enable them attain reality of self worth and value in the society.

Chikezie added that the project sited  at Papaladna community, in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa state, was conceived as a transit home, where women and girls would be receiving succour from trauma.

She explained that the Centre tagged Hope Alive Home also known as House of Love is a dream child of DWOPA, inspired by God for the purpose of uplifting the less previliged.

According to her, with the increasing cases of insecurity across the country, more measures needed to be taken to uplift those who thought they are forgotten members of the society.

She adds, “We know that every human being is unique, so our initiative is to help destitutes, abused women and girls  maximize the potential in them through specialised trainings that will make them to be reintegrated into the mainstream of society”.

Furthermore, the founder, popularly called ‘Chief Servant’ by  DWOPA members, said the Association will be working with employers of labour, the NDE, banks and other well meaning Nigerians to make the vision sustainable and beneficial to the intended people, with a plan to build such centres across the country.

She therefore solicited for support from people and corporate bodies to assist by providing equipment and necessary materials for the completion of the scheme.

Also speaking, the Association’s grand patron and guest speaker, Dr John Kennedy Opara commended the founder for  her vision to impact positively on less the previliged, especially the women.

Opara who was represented by Mark Etowa, while performing the foundation laying, said God will provide for the project concerning its relevance.

Not left out, leaders of the host Communities, in their separate remarks pledged their commitment to provide necessary support towards the realisation of the scheme.
