The Hausa/Fulani Cultural Association, Bwari Chapter has called on elected politicians to live up to their campaign promises.
The Chairman of the association, Alhaji Halliru Bagudu made the call during the maiden meeting of the group at the weekend, in Abuja.
According to him, it is only through this that the electorates will trust and have more confidence in the ruling class.
He advised the politicians to provide more skill acquisition centres for women and youths to be engaged and be self reliant.
“It is only when the youth are fully occupied that their minds will be focused and productive; otherwise they can be violent and destructive.
“There is the need for them to be fully and effectively employed through trainings, soft loans and market for their finished products.
“If the youth are gainfully employed, insurgency, armed robbery, cultism and many vices will be reduced drastically,’’ he said.
Also speaking, the interim secretary of the association, Malam Khalid Daura said the association was meant to foster unity among its members and to encourage peaceful co-existence.
Daura, while thanking members for their peaceful conduct during the elections, appealed to them to learn one or two trades.
The groups in this association include the Sokoto/Kebbi/Zamfara states indigene associations (SOKEZA), Kano/Jigawa Development Association (KAJIGDA), Katsina State Indigene Association (KADAKA) and the Butchers Association.
