ASSPON sets up electoral committee ahead of election

The Association of Professional Printers of Nigreia (ASSPON) has constituted five-member electoral committee ahead of March 15, 2018 Charted Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria, CIPPON’s elections
In a meeting in Abuja, the ASSPON inaugurated the five member committee with the mandate to set. modalities in motion on how to select candidates and also conduct election for the FCT chapter of the body with a view to producing three representatives who will represent ASSPON Abuja during the CIPPON elections.
Members of the five-man electoral committee are Mr Paul Ose, Mr Kayode Alange, Mr Ariyo Akeem, Chief Umeh Ben Kodimma and a yet to be appointed members. The appointment of the members cut across the printer clusters in Abuja.
According to Mr Lanre Bolarin, ASSPON Abuja is given three slots to fill in the CIPPON Council Members.
He went on to explain the differences between a professional and unprofessional printer, adding: “An unprofessional printer is one who does not have CIPPON licence to operate.
“A professional printer is regarded as a printer who has CIPPON licence to operate. While CIPPON is an institute, ASSPON is an association affiliated to CIPPON.”
Speaking to our correspondent at the meeting, ASSPON Chairman, Abuja Chapter, Mr Gabriel Adeleke Adedeji, said that “CIPPON’s basic responsibility is to regulate, monitor and sanities the printers in the country because a lot of things have gone wrong when it comes to printing in Nigeria and that is the purpose CIPPON was established.
