ASUP strike: FG sets committee on poly, varsity dichotomy

Supervising Minister of Education, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike yesterday said the Federal Government has set up a committee to look into the issue of polytechnic and university graduates dichotomy as part of the requests of the striking Association Staff Union of Polyphonic (ASUP).

Barrister Wike disclosed this while addressing the Governing Councils of Federal Polytechnics and Federal Colleges of Education during a retreat organized by the Federal Ministry of Education in Kaduna.

The Minister further assured that the 11 months old strike by polytechnic and colleges of education lecturers would soon be called off as the Secretary to the Federal Government had already met with the lecturer’s union.

Barrister Wike charged the Polytechnics and Colleges of Education governing council to utilize funds meant for their respective institutions judiciously and ensure value for money.
