Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has emerged winner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Primary Election in Yobe State, securing 44,841 votes in the exercise conducted at the party secretariat in Damaturu.

The result was announced on Monday by the Chairperson of the Electoral Committee and State Primary Election Returning Officer, Hajiya Ma’am Kyari.

According to the official results released by the committee, Mr. Rotimi Chibuki Amaechi scored 300 votes, while Mr. Mohamed Hayatudeen polled 365 votes.

Declaring the results, Hajiya Kyari said the exercise was conducted peacefully and in compliance with the party’s guidelines.

“Having scored the highest number of valid votes cast, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is hereby declared the winner of the ADC Presidential Primary Election in Yobe State,” she stated.

She commended party members, electoral officials and security agencies for ensuring the peaceful, smooth and orderly conduct of the exercise.

The electoral committee chairperson also appreciated all aspirants and their supporters for maintaining decorum throughout the primary election.

Reacting to the exercise, Mr. Kassim Geidam, the ADC Governorship Candidate in Yobe State, described the primary election as peaceful, successful and encouraging.

Geidam expressed satisfaction with the level of participation and cooperation demonstrated by party supporters across Zones A, B and C of the state.

He commended party executives, security agencies, traditional rulers and other stakeholders for promoting peace and political maturity during the process.

The governorship candidate particularly appreciated traditional rulers for encouraging peaceful political engagement and maintaining neutrality throughout the exercise.

He also thanked members of the media for their professionalism and support during the conduct of the primary election.
