Presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has pledged to earmark $10billion for job creation among women and youths if he is elected as the next president of the country come 2023 general elections.

Atiku made the pledge on Thursday in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, while addressing party supporters during the PDP presidential campaign rally attended by top chieftains and leaders of the main opposition party.

The former Vice President assured the Kwara state electorate that his administration will ensure that the road network in Kwara state linking the northern part of the country and the south will be rehabilitated.

In the words of Atiku, “I know the problem of Kwara for a very long time. Kwara is right in the middle of the country, connecting the north and the south. We have seen that the road infrastructure has been allowed to deteriorate.

“It was a PDP that built that roads and they have come and they have not maintained the roads and the roads today are very bad and not motorable.

“We promise you that if you elect the PDP at the state and at the national level, we will make sure that these roads are connected to both sides of the country.

“I want to assure you that the youth unemployment, which is all over the country, it is not only peculiar to Kwara state but all over the country. Most of you here are under the age of 30. Most of you have no jobs. Most of you have no businesses.

“I have promised that I will set aside 10 billion US dollars, to make sure that Youths and Women get employment. “We will make sure that small and medium enterprises will empower you to make sure that you are gainfully employed, so that you can earn a decent living”, he said.

Atiku said that he will ensure that the country is secured adding that the APC promised to restore security within six months after election but woefully failed to achieve it.

He said, “We now saw insecurity all over the country. It is a total failure by APC in all its ramifications. We are not here to deceive you we, are not here to tell you lies, we are your parents. We want you to be like what we are.

“We will bring you up, we will we will make sure you attain your objectives, whatever may be your ambition, that is the reason why we are here”, he stated.

Speaking also, the National Chairman of the party, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu told Kwara electorate that the party is very united and determined to unseat the ruling party in the next general election.

He said, “PDP has come back to rescue this country and put it back on the path of development for every family, for every young man, for every old person. “We are not a party for one segment of the country that is why we selected a unifier, somebody who will bring everybody on board and make sure that we rebuild this country”.

Similarly, former President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki said that Atiku Abubakar has all the requisite experience to reunify the country and rebuild the economy.

According to Saraki, “This is time for us to kick out the non-performing APC and party and bring in a man that will unite Nigeria. A man that will bring food to the table, a man that will be fair to everyone. “A man that has experience at the national level, all the other candidates have no experience at the national level. To bring Nigerians together, you must have that experience. Let us go for the man that will help all of us”, he said.

The event was attended by the leadership of the party including Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa (Edo), Gov. Godwin Obaseki (Edo), PDP BoT Chairman, Sen. Adolphus Wabara, Sen. Abdul Ningi and many other stakeholders.
