Atiku in Yobe, campaigns for votes

Date:

From: Uche Uche, Damaturu

An unexpected mammoth crowd yesterday trooped into the 27th August Stadium in Damaturu, Yobe state capital, to witness the Atiku, Obi campaign rally for the 2019 general election.
The crowd is unexpected because the membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state has diminished to a level of being considered weak to contest election with the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) due to internal crisis within the party which APC has used to draw away many of the PDP supporters into its fold.
Speaking during the occasion which took place at the 27th August stadium in Damaturu, the state capital, National Chairman of PDP, Uche Secondus, called on both the security operatives to steer clean, and avoid being used in any form of support to election rigging.
He also urged the youths, especially the party supporters, to ensure that their votes count by coming out in mass to vote for the party, their candidates of choice and thereafter, stay until the votes are counted and submitted.
He said that enthroning of PDP in power both at the state and national level would give the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, the needed opportunity to improve the lives and livelihood of the people, with emphasis on youth and women empowerment.
Other areas a PDP government would concentrate in its developmental agenda, he said are improved security more than what is presently obtained in the country, and giving Muslim the opportunity to perform pilgrimage by reducing the transport fare and improved welfare packages.
Other speakers at the rally included former Minister of Police Affairs, Adamu Maina Waziri, who is the Senatorial candidate of the party, the state chairman of the party, Alhaji Inuwa Unguru, among others.
