The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen Kenneth Minimah and his counterpart in the Air Force, Air Marshal Adekunle Amosu embarked on an operational visit to units within 7 Division area of responsibility.

A statement signed by the Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Brigadier General Olajide Laleye, said the two security chiefs specifically visited troops deployed on Operation ZAMAN LAFIA in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states, from Tuesday to yesterday.

The statement also said the Army chief while addressing the troops advised them to make discipline their watch word at all times and remain resolute in the face of security challenges facing the country.

He noted that the present security challenges facing the nation are not insurmountable if troops are well led and remain vigilant while carrying out assigned duties.

According to the statement: “The Army chief charged the troops particularly those in the border units to ensure that arms and ammunition were not smuggled through their areas of responsibility.

“He further urged troops to steadfastly observe the rules of engagement in the conduct of ongoing operation.

“I am aware that your task is not an easy one, considering that you must defeat a faceless and vicious enemy while at the same time protecting the rights of innocent citizens in the operational area”, he reportedly said.
