Baba Suleiman scales APC screening, joins race for Bauchi Gov ticket

The race for the Bauchi State Government House has intensified as the All Progressives Congress (APC) officially screened Dr. Baba Abubakar Suleiman, a founding member of the party and former Minority Leader of the State House of Assembly, to contest the upcoming gubernatorial primary.
​Emerging from a rigorous exercise in Abuja, Suleiman confirmed he has met all constitutional and procedural mandates required by the party. His clearance sets the stage for a high-stakes internal battle, as he joins a crowded field of eight aspirants vying for the chance to reclaim the state for the APC.
Speaking with reporters after he was screened, Suleiman said the screening was conducted successfully last Saturday in Abuja, in line with the provisions of the party’s constitution and internal guidelines governing the nomination process.
He said with the screening he had satisfactorily fulfilled all constitutional and procedural requirements necessary to participate in the party’s governorship process in the State.
Suleiman expressed appreciation to the leadership of the APC for conducting a transparent, credible, and rigorous exercise aimed at strengthening internal democracy and ensuring quality leadership within the party.
“I am honoured to have successfully gone through this important constitutional process of our great party. This exercise further strengthens confidence in the democratic values and internal structures of the APC,” the gubernatorial hopeful said.
The APC governorship aspirant commended the leader of the Party in Bauchi State who is the Coordinating minister of Health Professor Mohammed Ali Pate and also commended the performances of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for their examplary.leadership and guidance.
He explained that their leadership and developmental achievements have continued to strengthen public confidence in the APC across the country.
The governorship aspirant said: “My decision to run is born out of a profound commitment to the progress of our state and a firm belief that, through inclusive governance and strategic innovation, we can unlock the vast potential that Bauchi holds.
“From the fertile plains of our agricultural belt to the vibrant energy of our youth, our state is rich in both resources and spirit.
“My vision for Bauchi is centered on sustainable development, economic empowerment, and social justice. I am dedicated to transforming our traditional farming practises into a modern value chain that ensures food security and creates jobs.
“Ensuring that every citizen, regardless of their location, has access to quality schooling and functional medical facilities, building the roads, power, and digital networks necessary to attract investment and foster local entrepreneurship.
“ Establishing a system rooted in accountability, where the voice of every Bauchi citizen is heard and respected”.
“ I offer a leadership approach that is visionary, empathetic, and results-oriented. Together, we can build a state where opportunity is common, and prosperity is shared by all”.
He called on party members and supporters to remain united, disciplined, and focused, stressing that the success of the APC in Bauchi State depends on collective effort, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to progress.
The eight people contesting the Governorship seat under the APC , they include Yusuf Maitama Tuggar,Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, Senator Shehu Buba Umar, Mallam Nura Manu Soro, Kabiru Baba Maaji , Yakubu Abdullahi and Dr Baba Abubakar Suleiman and Dr Bala Maijama’a Wunti.
