Banditry: Police nabs suspect with IED materials in Zamfara

The Zamfara State Police Command has announced the arrest of a suspect in unlawful possession of 954 pieces of suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) materials.
The materials were suspected to be delivered to the dangerous groups of bandits.
In a statement signed by the Command’s Spokesperson, DSP Yazid Abubakar, the suspect was arrested while driving a Toyota Corolla vehicle.
He was arrested by Task Force on Illegal Mining of the Command.
The operations was led by ASP Aminu Aliyu who acted on credible and actionable intelligence that led to the recovery of the dangerous items.
“On 27th January, 2027, at about 04:15pm, operatives of Task Force on Illegal Mining of the command, led by Asp Aminu Aliyu acting on credible and actionable intelligence, carried out a successful operation which led to the arrest of a suspect in connection with unlawful possession of suspected explosive materials.
According to the statement, the suspect, Mustapha Mohammad aged 38 years, was arrested while driving a Toyota Corolla. A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of nine hundred and fifty-four (954) pieces of suspected explosive materials, concealed in polyethylene bags.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the recovered materials were suspected to have been intended for use by bandits as Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
“The suspect is currently in Police custody, while the exhibits have been secured and formally handed over to the Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team for safe custody and detailed analysis.”
