At least four (4) persons have been reportedly killed and 1 injured in Ikobi local government area of Benue State by armed bandits.
A villager in the area Atule Amodu who disclosed this to Peoples Daily on phone on Thursday, said the incident happened on the outskirt of the community in the night.
According to him, the invaders came into the community but were chased away by the soldiers and they decided to enter silently at the outskirt, killing four persons and injuring 1.
“The area is surrounded by hills, and that was how they took the people unawares. Armed herdsmen are the ones who killed them. They will begin to patrol again with their cows and drop their warriors who are attacking the people unexpectedly. Last year, they attacked the community and that is what we are seeing again.
Barrister Eche Akpoko, the chairman of the Apa Development Association, a socio cultural umbrella body of the Apa people confirmed that four bodies have been recovered.
When contacted, Police Public Relations’ office SP Catherine Anene said she has no information about the incident.
