Bandits kidnap philanthropist, daughter in Kaduna, demand 100m ransom

Bandits reportedly abducted a Kaduna-based philantophist, Engr. Ramatu Abarshi and daughter, including the commercial driver conveying them to Kaduna after a humanitarian service at Mariri community in Kajuru Local Government Area of the state.

A source disclosed to journalists  in Kaduna  yesterday that the victim who is a chief lecturer and  former Head of Department (HOD), Electrical Engineering, Kaduna Polytechnic and her daughter were returning to Kaduna, after a visit to Mariri village in Kajuru Local Government.

According to the source, it was after she distributed items to less privileged and was coming back to Kaduna that the bandits stopped their chattered vehicle, and kidnapped them in a village, near Kasuwan Magani.

“She came to distribute cloth and other basic items to orphans ahead of the Eid-el- Fitr celebration.

“She exchanged pleasantries with dozens of people in Mariri and posed for pictures with many people before they left in the evening,” the source said.
