A group known as Home Front Supporters Forum has appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan to intervene in the impasse rocking the Bauchi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to ensure the emergence of a credible gubernatorial candidate for the party in the state saying that is the only way PDP can win Bauchi State in forthcoming general elections.
The Chairman of the group, Alhaji Muhammad Danladi Maiaudga made the appeal while addressing a press conference at the NUJ Secretariat in Bauchi yesterday.
He stressed the need for the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, FCT Minister Senator Bala Mohammed, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Alhaji Mahmud Yayale and other PDP stakeholders in the state must unite to find solution to the lingering crisis in the party.
Maiauduga added that only by so doing that the party can win all elections with minimum of 60% noting “it is not our intention to dictate the modalities of finding a solution to the problem. This is the time to use the stitch. We cannot afford to lose elections and then start the blame game. This is the time to make corrections. This is the time to nominate credible candidates who have been tested and trusted.”
He noted that of recent there have been protest by a handful of sponsored youths against certain aspirations saying the protest has the tendency of usurping the peace and tranquility which the state has been enjoying, though disagreements are normal I democracy and is the beauty of democracy.
“The so-called protests were orchestrated around the aspiration of Alhaji Muhmud Yayale for nomination as governorship candidate of our party. If I may ask; why should anybody lose any sleep when a qualified member of our party aspires to be nominated for election into the office of the governor? Why do we have to smear other people’s reputation on frivolous selfish reasons? The authors of the smear campaigns tried to give an impression that Alhaji Yayale is anointed by the National Chairman of the PDP because they are friends. This is ridiculous”, he said.
