From Ahmad Muhammad, Bauchi

Bauchi State government has partnered journalists as part of its effort to ensure that girls, regardless of their background, receive quality education.
The state Commissioner of education, Dr. Jamila Muhammad Dahiru, said this during the Bi-Annual Media Roundtable Meeting organised by the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) in Bauchi.
Represented by permanent secretary of the Ministry Alhaji Ali Babayo Gamawa, Dr Jamila explained government’s commitment to transforming public schools and ensuring that girls, regardless of their background, receive quality education.
She said: “Our goal is nothing short of an egalitarian society.”
The Commissioner said that adolescent girls in the state are facing challenges which are excluding them from having unhindered access to education.
She said that some of the identified challenges as well as those that are salient are preventing those of them that have started schooling from completing secondary education.
The Commissioner said that the roundtable media engagement was another effort by the State Government in carrying the media along, as key partners, in changing the indices of adolescent education in the State.
