Bauchi Govt, W/Bank, NSHIP in pact to revamp heath care centres

The World Bank, Nigeria State Health Investment Project (NSHIP) in collaboration with authorities in health care delivery in Bauchi state are set to repackage 16 Primary Health Care Centres, PHCs to improve safe delivery and reduction of maternal mortality in Dass Local Government Area.
It would be recalled that the Executive Chairman Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency (PHCDA ) Pharmacist Adamu Ibrahim Gamawa had explained that the state primary health care development agency has signed a contract agreement for the purchase of health services with 15 health facilities and General Hospital Dass under the additional financing of Nigeria state health investment project.
He said choosing Dass for the pilot project is not by co-incidence but based on criteria and total conviction that it will be successful in Dass.
Gamawa said the project would make relevant change in the health indices of the state., adding that the project will help remove financial barriers that have always militated against quality health services.
The benefiting community PHCs are Wandi,Sabon Gari Burgel, Dot, Bajar,Pegin Doka, Yelwan Bashi, Durr,Baraza, Badel others includes Zumbul, Lukshi, Polchi, Dass Town Maternity, Tapardak and General Hospital Dass.
Mr IIiya Jinkiri Aliyu, Officer in charge of Sabon Gari Burgel PHC told our correspondent that health services have improved tremendously with the intervention of NSHIP Performance Based Financing (PBF) for outputs at health facilities.
Also speaking the officer in charge of Lukshi PHC,Mrs LouisLuka said that the project has improved in quality services, human resource and structure in the community.
“With NSHIP finances, the facility was able to embark on the construction of additional offices, immunization hall among others.
“ This project is social marketing which has enhanced healthcare services ,provide financing to facilities and also improve attendance in areas of hospital delivery, anti-natal clinics, immunization and other Out Put Patients.(OPD),”She said.
Similarly, the officer in charge on Polci PHC, Mr Danladi Elkanah said that the facility has introduce incentives to mothers whom complete their immunization.
