Bauchi lawmaker donates money, relief items to victims of Bara flood

The Senator representing Bauchi South senatorial district, Senator Shehu Buba Umar , has donated N6.5 million, bags of Rice Maize, Mats, Blankets and sundry relief materials to victims of the recent flood disaster who lost over 360 houses in Bara District of ,Kirfi local government area of Bauchi State.
The items donated include a 100 bags of rice,100 bags of maize,100 mattresses, 200 blankets, 200 Mats, 100 wrappers,100 bundles of kaftan yards for male victims, and 100 pieces of pillows.
The senator, who personally visited the area, made the donations at the Palace of District Head of Bara Alhaji Muhammadu Abdullahi,
He said out of the N6.5 million Naira he donated N5 million Naira is for the affected flood victims, N500,000 for youths,N500,000 for women and N500,000 for traditional leaders in the area.
Senator Buba commiserated with the victims and prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in the incidents.
While addressing the victims of the flood at the Palace of the district head Senator Buba assured them of his commitment towards providing them with necessary support to aid their suffering.
Senator Buba said that the level of devastation caused by the flood was enormous in virtually all the areas affected, and pledged that he will raise the issue on the floor of the Senate to explore the possibility of collaborative efforts of governments at all levels to provide the necessary input to safeguard lives and properties of the people.
The district head of Bara Alhaji Muhammadu Abdullahi appreciated the senator for coming to aid of the victims and promise judicious use of the items donated.
He said the people of Bara live on a sloppy area and anytime the water came from the east they used to experience but this year the flood affected the community worse than any other time, it destroyed over 360,houses , several walls ,destroyed farmlands,and the flood killed two people, several animals and livestock.
District Head appeal to the Senator to look on how the authorities concern will divert the water coming from the east to Bara town to avoid recurrence of such calamities.
He appreciated Senator Buba for donating benefiting Carpet to Bara Jumma’at Mosque and pray to Allah to reward him abundantly.
Some of the victims while speaking during the visit expressed gratitude for the kind gesture, described Senator Senator Buba as a representative who put the interest of his people above his own personal interest.
