Bauchi: NUC approves Open University centre in Bogoro

The Executive Secretary, Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), Professor Suleiman Elias Bogoro has said, the National University Commission (NUC) has approved the establishment of National Open University centre in Bogoro to cater for prospective indigents of Bauchi state.

Just as the TETFUND ,collaborate with   Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi   to extend the  University department of vocational  and techonology in Tafawa-Balewa town for effective learning Professor Bogoro made the declaration in Tafawa-Balewa COCIN church while in thanksgiving service of his appointment as TETFUND executive secretary by President Jonathan.

He said, the establishment of both Open university centre and  ATBU vocational department in those exis  is timely to arrest the difficulties face by the prospective Bauchi state indigenes to study in various institutions of learning in the country.

According to Bogoro, the areas constitutes the highest number of graduates in  Bauchi state, even though there is no single tertiary institution in the axis and that informed the efforts of  NUC,TETFUND and ATBU to establish the institutions for education excellence.

“The aim of  establishing those institutions in Bogoro and Tafawa-Balewa axis is to cater for the restive youths who have find It difficult to gain admission in various tertiary institutions as a demonstration to better their futures which is in line with the transformation agenda of president Jonathan” said Bogoro.

Bogoro added that already contractors have been mobilized to commence erecting of structures in Bogoro Open university centre in tandem with the contractual agreement to complete the work in good time.

“In fact  there is enough reasons to thank President  Jonathan for the bold step to appoint me as TETFUND boss without any hesitation out of over millions of qualified Nigerians, I urge you reciprocate the gesture by voting him come 2015 election” added Bogoro.

Bogoro had also charge the youths to avail them with the institutions to earn quality education in line with the global norms saying education is the only bedrock of meaningful development in every society.

He assured Nigerians of his efforts to transform the education sector throughout his tenure in the areas of good innovation that is capable of turning around the socio-economic, political and cultural development of the country.

“TETFUND has introduce base data technology driven services as a demonstration to operate e-library in all tertiary institutions in the country compared to developed countries of the world and President Jonathan is very supportive” Bogoro concluded.
