Bauchi people were deceived to vote against me in 2019—Muhammed Abubakar

By Jude Opara
Former governor of Bauchi state, Muhammed Abubakar has blamed his political opponents for his defeat in the 2019 governorship election in Bauchi state.
Abubakar who is a governorship aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election spoke to newsmen on Wednesday, shortly after returning his nomination forms to the party.
He further claimed that since his exit, nothing meaningful has happened in the state, a development he said led to the huge clamour for him to contest and reposition the state.
He equally admonished his supporters to always remain calm, even in the face of provocations, insisting that his good work will always be speaking for him.
“They have now realized that they were all lies and now they are the ones who are printing posters and printing billboards saying in Hausa, “kadao kadao”, come back, come back. This is the situation.
“I’m running again for the simple reason that by the time I took over in 2015, a lot of the institutions of governance were prostrate.
“And I had begun a system of revitalizing these institutions and I knew for a fact that nothing much has changed after almost eight years of absence from Bauchi. I therefore intend to go and continue from where I stopped and revitalize these institutions and bring development, real development to Bauchi State”.
On the mode of primary he would prefer, the former governor said, as a party man, whatever plan the party decides to follow he would accept the outcome, even if in a consensus he will support anybody who gets it.
“Everybody knows me. I keep my words. And I’ve made it a point that by the time we do consensus, if the consensus falls on another aspirant, I will come out and support that aspirant”
He equally expressed confidence that the APC will do very well in the elections, both at the federal and state levels.
