The Police in Bauch said on Tuesday it was ready to ensure hitch-free elections in the state in 2015.
The Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, DSP Haruna Mohammed, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi.
“We have made all arrangements in order to ensure hitch-free elections.
“We have embarked on sensitisation campaign; we have also mapped out strategies of getting it to members of the public – both the electorate and the politicians – by organising workshops, calling for stakeholder meetings between the politicians and the police, and other security agents, between the INEC personnel and the security personnel.
“Some of these strategies are not to be disclosed to members of the public, but we have mapped out all possible strategies in order to ensure hitch-free elections.“
He said that the police was sensitising youths to the dangers of political thuggery.
”We are also giving our telephone numbers to the public in case they need to make” distress calls to the police or tender complaints.
“We have also set up a control room that will be working 24 hours every day to enable us to respond to the distress calls promptly.“ (NAN)
