Association of Disables Peoples in Bauchi State pledged to purchase form for former Governor of the state, Mallam Isa Yuguda, to re-contest for Bauchi South Senatorial district seat under the Green Party of Nigeria (GPN).
Malam Yuguda had earlier contested for the Bauchi South Senatorial seat in
2015 after his eight-year tenure as Bauchi State governor. He, however, lost to Senator Ali Wakili of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a move to intensify calls for Yuguda to re-contest, the leader of the association, Mallam Tijjan Abdu, stated at formal donation of vehicle and billboard for Yuguda campaign yesterday at the GPN Secretariat Bauchi, that the former Governor has done so much for the disabled during his tenure as the governor of the state.
He said “Yuguda had mandated that even monthly food items should be given
to us, the disabled, across the state. We really benefited from his administration, unlike in this regime when we are neglected. Yuguda has done much for us.”
Meanwhile, other groups and individuals have also intensified calls for former governor, to re-contest for the seat.
Adding its voice, Yuguda Volunteer group expressed its support for the former governor to heed the calls by the groups and individuals to contest for the Senate seat.
Speaking on the visit, leader of the group, Alhaji Dangarba Magaji said that they came to rally more support for the former governor to re-contest for the seat because they are hopeful that he will deliver more dividends of democracy to the people.
According to him, members of the group have embarked on a massive campaign to canvass support for the governor in all nooks and crannies of the seven local government areas of Bauchi South senatorial district.
In his welcome address, the Bauchi State chairman of the party, Alhaji Sani Mohammed Bura, commended the group for their support to the former governor and their call for him to serve his people.
He assured them that members of the party will work towards convincing Yuguda to contest for the Bauchi South senatorial seat.
Highlight of the visit was the donation of a car by a member of the group who donated the vehicle to help in logistics and canvassing support for the former governor.
