Bauchi State Management Board of Special Schools has disclosed that 4,174 students have recorded 82 percent success in West African Examinations Council WAEC and National Examinations Council NECO Examinations between 2002-2015.
The Acting Chairperson of the Board, Hajiya Lami Buba stated this while speaking with reporters in Bauchi at the end of examinations of students seeking to gain admission in to the state special school in all the 20 local government areas of the state.
She said the students scored five credits including core subjects and gained admission in various tertiary institutions in the country between 2002 2015.
Lami said the government initiated the programmes of special schools because the state didn’t able to meet its quota in tertiary institution in the year 2,000, when the idea of the special came up
was introduced only 2 percent of secondary school graduates have the qualification of going to tertiary institution by implication that is having five credits and above including core subjects English and Mathematics, but at the moment I am happy to said that between 2002 to 2015 we registered about 5059 candidates that sat for WAEC/ NECO
examinations out of the number 4174 were able to get five credits and above including Mathematics and English so by percentage, 82.5 percent were able to get the requirement of going in to tertiary institution, because its different to get the requirement of going to tertiary institution and to scored five credits including core subjects and we continue like that we will give you further success recorded later in subsequent years like 2016 – 2018.”
