Bauchi to develop database for tax payers

The Bauchi State Government would embark on reforming and repositioning of the state Board of Internal Revenue Services (BIRS) to improve on the state Internally Generated Revenue(IGR).
The Chairman of the BIRS,Alhaji Hussaini Jibo stated this on Tuesday while briefing newsmen in Bauchi.
The chairman said that the board would further develop a data base for all taxpayers from formal and informal sectors across the state.
According to him,the action would awaken citizens of the state on their civic responsibility to pay taxes and provide the board with correct data on tax payers in the state.
“The present administration is placing priority in the area of taxation due to the economic situation in the state.
“The state can’t continue to depend on Federal Government allocation alone.
“As such IGR is key in generating more funds for the state to improve and provide quality social amenities, security and other counterpart funding projects for the good people of the state,” he said.
Jibo said that the board would partner with relevant financial institutions for proper data collection for correct information gathering.
He said that the board would also use automated system in all its area of operation to block leakages in the organization.
