Bayero, Akunyili’s deaths, huge losses to Nigeria, says CAN

National President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo OritsejaforThe death of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, as well as that of the former Director0General of NAFDAC, Dora Akunyili have been described as a huge loss to the nation.

A statement by the president of the Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN) Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor stated that: “The death of Ado Bayero is indeed a huge loss to the nation, his family and his community especially at a time when his wise counsel was most needed to help tackle moral decadence in our society and the growing menace of insurgency ravaging parts of our dear country.”

“On behalf of the entire Christian community in Nigeria, under the auspices of the CAN, I wish to condole with the Bayero family, the Kano emirate, the government and people of Kano State over the demise of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero”.

The CAN president called on Nigerians to continuously reflect on unity in the fight against terrorism.

In a similar statement, the CAN president commiserated with the family of Akunyili on the demise of former Information Minister, Prof Dora Akunyili.

President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor described the death of Prof Akunyili as a great loss not only to her family but to the entire nation and humanity at large, given her track record in public service.
