The Management of Benin Electricity Distribution company (BEDC) has measured its performance index in the last five years since it took over asset and liabilities from the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).
It said the development now afford consumers to know the schedule and allocation of energy supply to the various locations across Ekiti, Ondo, Delta and Edo States.
Head Corporate Affairs of BEDC, Mr. Tayo Adekunle, said in a statement on Sunday, which was made available to newsmen in Benin City, Edo State gets 40 percent out of the 9 percentage that it allocated to the company from the national grid.
He attributed the increase in power supply in most parts of the State, including government institutions and street lights in Edo State, just as the company has distributed a total of 1694 transformers across different locations in area of its jurisdiction since 2013.
Adekunle in the statement, said BEDC has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with independent power firms in line with the guidelines of the National Electricity Regulations (NERC).
The statement read in part that “most importantly, several customers can now predict when they will have power supply based on our regimented load management schedule.”
