Benue Assembly says members don’t belong to factions

The leadership of the Benue State House of Assembly has insisted that there is no division between faction of the Secretary to Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume and the State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia.
Majority Leader of the House Hon. Tiseer Saater while answering questions during an interaction with newsmen to mark one day in office of the Assembly, said the insinuation of division in the house is a mere figment of imagination.
According to him, “at the outset of this assembly, there are usually interests but we are working together. We did politics and created leadership. Right now 7 members of the House including the speaker have not been served cars. The vehicles are bought in batches.
On the non completion of the new assembly complex, he said, “there was no proper bill of quantities, adding that the contractors were not paid at point hence, the need at normalizing those issues.
“Due process not followed in spending. Contractors have done more than 70 percent.
Meanwhile, the Assembly passed 18 out of 27 bills in the first legislative session.
The chairman, house standing committee on Information, Elias Audu who disclosed this, said the House received 27 bills, passed 18 with six of them at Committees while three are pending.
He stated that the House also received 20 reports, out of which 17 of them have been conclusively debated.
“Similarly, the House received and deliberated on Fifty-Two (52) substantive motions and adopted Ninety Five (95) major Resolutions during the period.”
