Benue: Ortom posters with PDP symbol emerge over night

Date:

From Uche Nnorom, Makurdi

Residents of Makurdi, the State capital of Benue yesterday woke up to see posters of Governor Samuel Ortom that emerged at strategic places over night.
The posters, which bear the symbol of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, were conspicuously displayed at the Wurukum round about as well as the low level round about.
Display of the posters is coming barely a day after the governor declared his intention to dump the All Progressives Congress, APC, saying that he had been given a red card by the party.
Similarly, the posters may also put is sealed lips to widespread speculations in the State of possible return of Ortom to the PDP where he rose to the position of auditor and later minister for State, Trade and Investment under the Jonathan administration.
It should be noted that the Governor and leader of the APC in the State and Senator representing Benue North West Constituency Sen. George Akume have been at daggers drawn. Not even efforts by the Tor Tiv Ochirivirgh James Ayatse, who convened a peace meeting last weekend in his palace in Gboko to resolve the impasse, yielded any positive result as the meeting was said to have ended in a deadlock.
As at the time of filing this report, both parties are in Abuja on invitation of the National Working Committee, NWC, of the APC to find solution to the wrangling.
