From Uche Nnorom, Makurdi
Benue State Police Command yesterday launched ‘Operaton Puff Adder’, OPA to curb the increasing crime wave in the State.
The new Police Commissioner Garba Mukkadas who performed the launch at the State Police Headquarters, Makurdi said it is a directive from the Inspector General of Police Tanko Mohammed as part of measures by the forces to reduce the high rate of crime in the country.
He said the 130 men for the operation have been carefully selected and well trained to protect lives and property even as he urged them to be professional in their conduct.
“Be civil in dealing with members of the public. You need their cooperation to succeed. Also, shun all forms of corruption as this would not be tolerated”, CP Mukkadas warned.
It would be noted that there has been increasing rate of kidnapping, cultism and ethnic conflicts which has led to the death of many as well as destruction of property in Benue State.
