Benue State Speaker Titus Uba has emerged the consensus aspirant for the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP from 14 Tiv speaking local governments of the State.
Uba it was gathered emerged at a stakeholders’ meeting held at Government House on Sunday evening
Hitherto, the final process for the selection had been put off twice just as the other aspirants from Vandeikya intermediate area where the Governorship have been zoned to, had insisted on an election to prune down the number.
It was learnt that there have been divergent views and choices by major political players including the National Chairman of the Party, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu who rejected his former aide and erstwhile Commissioner for Education Dr. Dennis Ityavyar, Governor Samuel Ortom desperately wants his godson Titus Uba while Senator Gabriel Suswam preferred Terkaa Ucha, a member of the State House of Assembly from Vandeikya constituency.
Before the final selection, it was learnt authoritatively that the two (2) other aspirants which also include Prof. Paul Angya, former acting Director-General Standard Organization of Nigeria, SON, Susan Wayas as well the aforementioned were asked to step down for the Speaker to emerge.
