Former Minister of Information, Aliyu Ikra Bilbis who contested the position of Senate on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on INEC to without further delay declare him winner of the last Senatorial election.
In a press conference, Ikra Bilbis alleged that, the result was deliberately twisted by the INEC Collation Officer identified as Professor Ahmad Galadima who declared the election inconclusive despite he scored a total of 93,120 votes against other contestants.
According Bilbis, in a press release, the Collation Officer declared that, 74 polling units from 19 registration areas with a total of 43,881 collected PVCs as affected and the supplementary election would be conducted on specified date which would be communicated by the Commission.
He further challenged that, “According to the Collation Officer, the supplementary election is for the polling units where election could not hold as a result of bandits activities and over voting.
“It is worthy to note that, prior to the election, it was unanimously agreed by the stakeholders including Electoral Officers in some units of the senatorial districts that elections would not possibly be conducted in the affected areas because of the lingering insecurity bedevilling the areas for than 2 years.”
