Boko Haram: Colonel reported missing after Michika clash

Nigerian Army Colonel, Hope Yakubu Giwa has been reported missing since the day of the clash between the Nigerian troops with Boko Haram terrorists in the town of Bazza, a suburb of Michika LG in Adamawa state.

Reports said a cousin to the Colonel, Mr. David Garba, who is a resident of Yola, the capital of Adamawa State, said his cousin has been missing since the day of the clash with Boko Haram terrorists in the town of Bazza, a suburb of Michika LG in Adamawa state.

According to Mr. Garba, Colonel Hope Yakubu Giwa was in the same convoy with the injured Lt. Col. Adeboye Obasanjo who sustained gunshot wound and has since been discharged from the hospital.

However, the fate of his comrade-in-arms, Colonel Hope Yakubu Giwa, is still unknown.

Yesterday, the Defence Headquarters spokesman, Major-General Chris Olukolade reportedly said that Colonel Yakubu is considered missing in action.

Mr. Garba says the concerned relatives have gone to the Federal Medical Center in Yola, but got no information.

Colonel Hope Yakubu Giwa is an indigene of Takum, Taraba state. He is the Commander Division Supply and Transport of the Nigerian Army at Rukuba barracks in Jos.
