Boko Haram terrorists have attacked a military base in Chad, killing at least 23 security personnel and injuring 26 others, the country’s army said in a statement on Tuesday.
The army, however, said it repelled the attack after engaging the militants and is currently engaged in clearance operations across the area.
“Once again, the terrorist nebula Boko Haram carried out, last night, a cowardly attack on our military base in Barka Tolorom, in Lake Chad province,” he said.
“At this time of collection, my first thoughts are with our brave fallen soldiers, these heroes who brave all dangers to ensure our safety and the integrity of our territory. The sacrifice of our soldiers will never be in vain.”
“To the bereaved families, I express my deepest condolences to the Nation and to the wounded soldiers, I wish a speedy recovery.”
“In the face of this barbarism, Chad stands tall, united and unyielding. Obscurantism will never prevail over the Republic. We will continue the fight with renewed determination, until this threat is completely eradicated.”
