The Plateau state government yesterday banned street trading, illegal parking and operation of illegal motor parks in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
The announcement of the ban was made known yesterday, by the state Commissioner for information and communication, Barr. Olivia Dazyam, at a press briefing, which held at the NUJ Press Centre in Jos.
The commissioner said the decision was taken to avert further occurrence of the May 20 bomb blast which killed many people in the state, adding that the move would help to ensuring safety of lives and property in the state.
Dazyam, in her words, said, “The ban includes: street trading, operation of illegal motor parks, and indiscriminate parking of vehicles along major streets in the Jos city center.
“I also want to inform occupants of the JMDB (Abuja), shopping complex along Murtala Muhammad way, Jos, that experts from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development have declared the facility as unsafe, she added.
The commissioner further noted that since the occurrence of the bomb blast that had rocked the commercial area in the state capital.
