Date:

2nd Nyanya Bomb BlastFrom Edwin Olofu, Kano

At least 10 people are feared killed last night when a car laden with improvised explosive devices (IEDs), exploded in Sabon Gari area of Kano city.

A well placed security source that did not want his name mentioned, who visited the scene of the incident along Middle road/Gold Coast road told our correspondent that a primed car exploded near a

drinking joint in the area killing 10 people while several others sustained injuries.

The source added that the car might have been heading to a targeted destination but exploded on the road killing the 10 persons, which may include the occupants of the car.

Kano state police spokesman, ASP Musa Magaji Majiya, confirmed the incident but said he did not have details, noting that the Kano state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Aderenle Shinaba had mobilized his men to the scene.

It would be recalled that another explosion occurred barely a year ago, after twin explosions that rocked the New Road and Enugu Road areas of Sabon Gari in the city.
