A youth coalition under the aegis of the Borno Youth Vanguard, has declared support for the gubernatorial aspiration of Alhaji Shettima Mohammed Bulama, former managing director/ chief executive of the defunct Bank of the North.
In a statement issued to the media yesterday in Abuja, signed by the coordinator of the coalition, Alhaji Hussaini Hayatu, BYV maintained that Bulama, a seasoned administrator and banker is the candidate to beat and as such, called for PDP leaders in Borno as well as the national secretariat of the party, to consider giving him the guber ticket in the state.
According to the youth, Bulama has all through the years been impacting positively on the empowerment of the youth as well as the less privileged in the state, bringing his verse knowledge and experience to bear while contributing his quota towards developing the state.
“If PDP must wrestle away power from the ruling APC in Borno, then the party should do everything possible to see that Bulama clinches the guber ticket. He is the only candidate that is acceptable to all stakeholders, more so now that Sen Ali Modu Sherrif has returned to the party” Hayatu explained.
He maintained further that Bulama, who has received numerous professional accolades in the course of his banking career and is a fellow of both the Chartered and Certified Accountants of England, as well as a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, is better suited to transform Borno State in line with the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan.
