Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia has lamented over the June 29, 2024 bombing in Gwoza, Borno State, describing it as ‘senseless’.
Governor Alia in a condolence message to his Borno counterpart Babagana Zulum, said the tragic and devastating suicide bombings that has claimed the lives of more than 32 and 52 others injured is ‘heart-wrenching and deeply saddening’.
He said, “the reports of the attacks targeting a wedding ceremony, the subsequent funeral and a hospital are particularly distressing. Such senseless acts of violence against individuals celebrating significant life events, those providing and receiving medical care, are not only a direct assault on the affected families but also on the entire Borno State.
“My heart goes out to the families who have lost loved ones and to those who are suffering from injuries and trauma as a result of these heinous acts.”The Vice President, accompanied by top government officials, visited the APC Chairman at his residence in Kano to offer his condolences and sympathize with the family over the loss.
While consoling the APC Chairman, VP Shettima described Hajiya Maryam as a kind and compassionate person who would be deeply missed by all who knew her.
He prayed for the repose of her soul .
Responding, Ganduje thanked the Vice President for the visit, describing it as a testament to the strong bond between the party leadership and the government.
