The former Kano State Deputy Governor Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and received his membership card on Tuesday in Gawuna Ward, Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
Gawuna had resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and also stepped down as the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria ahead of this move.
He was personally received into the ADC by Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and is widely rumored to be Kwankwaso’s anointed gubernatorial candidate for 2027. He is expected to face Abba Kabir Yusuf, who was Kwankwaso’s anointed gubernatorial candidate for the 2023 Kano governorship election under the NNPP, but recently left the party for the APC.
Gawuna’s entry is seen as a major boost for ADC in Kano, with supporters already preparing to mobilize and actively participate in the party’s grassroots activities.
