…Says feat confirms Kaduna’s new security direction
The Uba Sani Back2Back (USB2B) Movement, a pro-democracy and good governance group, has applauded Governor Uba Sani for what it described as an extraordinary and historic security feat following the safe rescue of all 183 persons abducted from Kurmin Wali community, with no casualty recorded.
In a media release issued on Friday and signed by its Acting Chairman, Habeeb Bello Chikaji, the group said the successful operation further reinforces Governor Uba Sani’s growing record of victim-focused rescue missions, recalling earlier high-profile interventions, including the rescue of the Kuriga schoolchildren and other abducted communities across Kaduna State.
According to the group, the Kurmin Wali operation, like the Kuriga schoolchildren rescue, underscores a clear shift in Kaduna’s security architecture, where the protection of lives, intelligence-driven operations, and inter-agency coordination now take precedence.
The group also highlighted the critical role of close cooperation between the Kaduna State Government and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), under the leadership of Malam Nuhu Ribadu, noting that the synergy significantly strengthened intelligence sharing, operational coordination, and rapid response that made the rescue possible.
The group noted that the Governor’s confirmation that every abducted resident of Kurmin Wali has returned alive has brought immense relief not only to the community but to Kaduna State as a whole.
“Rescuing 183 abducted citizens alive, without a single person missing, is not just a security success; it is a humanitarian triumph. When viewed alongside the successful rescue of the Kuriga schoolchildren and other victims across the state, it speaks volumes about Governor Uba Sani’s leadership, effective coordination with security agencies, and deep empathy for the people,” the statement read.
The USB2B quoted the Governor as revealing that 11 victims who returned earlier with injuries were promptly treated, while the remaining 172 rescued persons are currently receiving medical and psychosocial care, describing the response as comprehensive, humane, and dignifying.
According to the group, the Governor’s decision to personally receive the victims and oversee their rehabilitation reflects a governance philosophy that places human dignity above mere statistics or press statements.
The group further commended the gallantry of security agencies involved in the Kurmin Wali operation and previous rescues, noting that the consistent outcomes are steadily restoring public confidence in Kaduna’s security reforms.
It added that the Kurmin Wali success joins a growing list of decisive rescue operations, including the Kuriga schoolchildren episode, that are dismantling the fear once associated with mass abductions in the state.
The group urged residents to continue supporting the government and security agencies with credible intelligence, stressing that collective vigilance remains key to sustaining the security gains recorded.
It concluded that the Kurmin Wali rescue, coming on the heels of earlier successful interventions, will be remembered as a defining chapter in Kaduna’s renewed fight against kidnapping, and a clear signal that the era of mass abductions without consequence is steadily coming to an end.
