Nentawe Yilwatda

The Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda was a few minutes ago sworn in as the substantive National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Yilwatda was appointed at the just concluded National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party which held at the Presidential Villa on Thursday.

The new Chairman, apart being a seasoned scholar was also a former Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) who served in Benue state.

He will now officially take over from the Acting National Chairman, Hon. Bukka Abba Dalori who held sway after the dramatic resignation of the former Chairman, Dr. Abdulahi Ganduje.

He is expected to be in office till the party’s National Convention scheduled to take place in February, 2026.

The emergence of Yilwatda is also expected to douse the agitation of party stakeholders from the North Central who have insisted that they ought to produced the next National Chairman to replace Sen. Adamu Abdulahi who resigned in 2023 shortly after the inauguration of President Bola Tinubu.
