The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Kaduna State University (KASU) branch, has dismissed reports of an impending indefinite strike slated to commence on February 11, 2025, labeling them as unfounded.
In an official statement, ASUU KASU Chairman, Dr. Peter Adamu, and Secretary, Dr. Peter Waziri clarified that the union has not declared any strike action and remains committed to adhering to due process in all its engagements.
“We are well-versed in extant labour laws and would not embark on any strike without following due process,” the statement emphasized.
The union also highlighted ongoing discussions with the Kaduna State Government aimed at resolving outstanding welfare issues inherited from the previous administration. They acknowledged Governor Uba Sani’s administration’s commitment to establishing a payment schedule to address these outstanding matters.
The clarification comes amidst recent rumors over potential industrial actions within the university community.
