Kaduna State’s transparency and accountabilty governance style under Governor Uba Sani has gained international recognition with the visit of a high-powered delegation from the Federal Republic of Somalia.
The delegation, led by Ambassador Jamal Mohamed Barrow and the Accountant General, Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Anas, said Somalia’s decision on the choice of Kaduna state was due to the quality of its fiscal responsibility policies and open government mechanisms.
Governor Uba Sani, while receiving the delegation highlighted Kaduna’s achievements in institutionalizing transparency. These, he said, include establishing strong policy and legal frameworks, strengthening public procurement processes, and fostering strategic partnerships with civil society organizations.
“Kaduna State has prioritized transparency and accountability in governance, ensuring that public resources are used for the benefit of our people. We are honored that our efforts are being acknowledged on an international stage,” Governor Uba Sani said during the engagement.
The Somali officials expressed particular interest in Kaduna’s innovative approach to fiscal discipline and its use of open government principles to enhance public trust.
Governor Sani explained how his administration has redirected resources by reducing wasteful spending and investing in critical sectors such as education, health, and agriculture.
Analysts think the visit underscores Kaduna State’s position as a leader in governance reforms in Nigeria, with Governor Uba Sani setting a benchmark for others to emulate.
The Somali delegation commended his efforts, describing Kaduna as a model of effective governance in Africa.
