In line with Governor Uba Sani’s vision of rigorous manpower training in the State Civil Service, the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC) has launched a quarterly professional skills enhancement programme for its staff.

This was disclosed by the Managing Director of the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC), Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, at the successful opening of the three-day training programme held at the Broadcasting House, Kaduna, between Thursday, January 9 to Sartuday 11, 2025.

While declaring the in-house training programme open, the Kaduna State Head of Service, Hajiya Hafsat Shekarau, praised the initiative as a demonstration of the governor’s commitment to human capital development under his ‘Sustain Agenda.’

She stated that “in today’s rapidly evolving world, the need for media professionals to stay updated and equipped with the necessary skills is indispensable,” emphasizing that the media plays a critical role in fostering public trust, promoting accountability, and driving development.

The training covered essential topics, including Kaduna State Public Service and Regulatory (Statutes) Books, Work Ethics, and Codes of Conduct in the Public Service. Madam Shekarau emphasized that these guidelines are the foundation of efficient service delivery, ensuring uniformity, accountability, and adherence to good governance principles.

She also commended KSMC for fostering collaboration by involving directors from the Office of the Head of Service and the National Productivity Centre (NPC), noting that this synergy underscores the shared goal of creating a more efficient and professional public service.

Earlier in his part, Maiyaki also explained that the training, designed to be a quarterly event, aims to bridge the skills gap within the organization. He highlighted the governor’s support in making this initiative possible and acknowledged the Head of Service’s contributions towards the success of the training programme. The KSMC Boss added that the programme will include sessions on performance evaluation through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), leveraging on technology to enhance broadcast content, Mastering the Basics and Upholding the Code, Digital Marketing and KSMC’s renewed vision and mandates.

Specialized sessions were also held on KSMC’s yet to be unveiled website, presentation for DCA reporters, and production editors.

One of the key highlights of the 3-day event is a staff awards ceremony scheduled to be held on Saturday to honour outstanding contributions of staff in 2024.

The initiative, fully aligned with Governor Uba Sani’s transformative agenda, seeks to ensure a more efficient workforce across Kaduna State.
